Hockey History In Urdu: Several brilliant hockey players have dominated the arena. Most notable amongst them include Naseer Bunda, Noor Alam. Colonel A.I.S. Dera could be termed as the father of hockey in Pakistan. He presented India in the Berlin Games in 1936 and captained Pakistan in the London Games in 1948. Between the periods 1952-4, the Pakistan hockey team participated in the Olympics, winning three gold and two silver medals. Under Colonel Dara's, and later Air Marshal Nur *Khan's leadership, field hockey in Pakistan was elevated to World Cup level. The Pakistan hockey team have won four gold medals in the World Cup: in 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994. In 1978 they also won the Champions Trophy and have participated in the Asia Cup.
